Country Truths

One thing I miss when I’m not in Milwaukee is FM 106.1, “Country Favorites.” Now, I don’t consider myself a fan of country music, but I think there is a lot to learn about America and the human condition in general in the lyrics. As I’m driving, I always try to distill the essential truths from the music. Here’s some of my recent ones:

1) Never mix whiskey and regret.

2) Good or bad, a man can never replace a woman’s first love — her daddy.

3) Ladies love country boys.

4) True love is always patient, never hurts, and lives forever. Therefore, it’s a myth.

5) Never cheat on a girl who has a key to your truck.
