A Hummer? Seriously?!?

I am not a critical person. Glass houses, stones, and what not. But there is something that I just can’t get passed when it comes to living in the ‘Burbs. Hummers. Many, many Hummers. And not just the little “baby” Hummers either, I’m talking the big mommas that take up two and a half parking spaces in width. I mean, seriously, who needs one of these in the land of asphalt and parks? Today my sister and I (with baby Fraser bringing up the rear), almost got swiped by a black one pulling out of a drive-thru where it barely fit anyway. Why would you chose to go cruising around town in such a monster? I felt horrible when I bought my SUV — it was like I killed my inner liberal in favor of a gas sucking giant that served no real purpose except to drain my wallet and make parking difficult. But I was able to justify it under the assumption that it was safer than my Neon for my nephew, and as I’m the family’s manual laborer, it was worth it to avoid having to rent a truck every few months or so to move something awkward. But a military vehicle? No way. I know it must be a question that these soccer moms’ friends ask behind their backs, but what are they trying to prove? Hummers — just so useless. Annoying. And passé! :)
